Letter to Antoine Bibesco

Monday [22 August 1904]

My dear Antoine

What has become of you? Send me your news! Where are the Yeatmans so that I can thank them for their pretty postcards? I stupidly missed Emmanuel's visit and I am inconsolable. I spent a few days on Billy's father-in-law's yacht. Lovely boat, lovely sailing, lovely women. I don't know where I am going to set off again for. I can't understand how your cousin has been 'undecorated', as it was signed and sealed. It was a great disappointment to me even though I don't attach much importance to these things. I think about you affectionately and I look forward to hearing your news.
